UPDATES AND REMINDERS: TRANSFER ADMISSION CRITERIA
Major preparation is sometimes even more important than GPA especially for high demand majors in the College of Letters and Science. What is a high demand major?
UC Transfer Update (January)
Transfer applicants must submit BOTH the UC Transfer Update as well as the specific UC Berkeley supplemental information (e.g. Haas essay) to move forward in the admission review process
ASSIST.org — Until further notice we will use 2016-2017 articulation for the 2017-2018 academic year
Students who plan to use high school coursework to meet the foreign language requirement for the College of Letters and Science Essential Skills, should check with their high school to ensure they have completed the appropriate language requirement with at least a C grade.
IGETC is owned and managed by the California Community College, not by the Office of Undergraduate Admission, the colleges, or major departments at Berkeley. ASSIST.org will inform students whether or not completing IGETC is an appropriate option.
Students should understand the onboarding process does not end with their SIR. Students are required to have read their admissions conditions before submitting their intent to register.
Please make sure students are aware of your requirements and timeline for document requests, especially if your IGETC certification is not indicated on the official transcript.
Remind your students to check their Cal Central portal for important information regarding document submission, information from student services and academic departments. It is VERY important that they monitor their email, using the address they provided on the UC application, for important and time sensitive communications from their admissions officer and other campus partners
