Ashley G.

Hi/Hola!! My name is Ashley G. and I am a third year majoring in Political Science and Legal Studies. I’m pursuing a law career in hopes of going to law school and becoming a Latina immigration attorney one day. I’m very passionate and involved in uplifting my Latinx community here at Cal. Throughout my time here I have been a part of UC Berkeley’s Summer Bridge program that allows freshmen to transition into the college environment and take summer classes before the start of their fall semester. I enjoy going to music festivals with my sister and best friends back home in SoCal. When I’m not studying, I love exploring the Bay Area & trying new restaurants. I’m more than willing to answer any questions or concerns you may have about Berkeley. I’m excited to get to know y’all. Feel free to reach out. Go Bears!

Brenda G.

Hi everyone! My name is Brenda G. I use they/them pronouns. I am a third year studying Sociology, Ethnic Studies, and minoring in Public Policy. I am from Pomona, CA -- a beautiful city in LA County! In Pomona, I was able to contribute in creating an organization named Pomona Students Union that advocates for a healthy environment (both academic and non-academic) and empowers students to advocate for themselves. At Berkeley, I founded De Colores - A queer/trans Latinx Organization and I am also a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow doing research on secondary education. This summer I was in my hometown doing remote research with the University of Chicago on education; analysing canonical works to see how school settings impact students' identity formation. Reach out to me to learn more about research, music, and the Sociology major! In my free time, I love to go to concerts, go on runs, listen to music, drink coffee, build things, and explore the bay area!

Therefore, I am currently pursuing legal studies as a major and education as a minor, so that I can equip myself with the tools necessary to help change the educational system. My hobbies include, helping people organize their things, painting, and watching different TV shows. I look forward to being a part of the OUA family!

I was born in the Philippines and came to the Bay Area when I was three, where I grew up in Vallejo and transferred from Diablo Valley College.
